Abigail Stahl

Ph.D. 2015

Abigail "Abby" Stahl defended her thesis in Spring of 2015 at Northwestern University. She received her B.A. in Political Science and French & Francophone Studies and an M.A. in French & Francophone Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Her primary research interests are 18th- and early 19th-century French literature. She is currently working on her dissertation, Germaine de Staël's System of Sentiment: The Passions in Theory and Practice. Her other interests are 18th- and 19th-century aesthetic theory, historiography of the French Revolution and depictions of the Revolution in literature. Abigail is currently a Assistant Director of Academic Operations and Graduate Programs for the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics and the French Graduate Program Administrator for the Department of French and Francophone Studies at the University of Illinois - Chicago.
