Veerle Dierickx Veerle Dierickx, Lecturer in French and Italian, holds a M.A. degree in Linguistics and Literature in Romance Languages and a Graduate Teachers Degree for Secondary Education in Linguistics and Literature from the University of Ghent, Belgium. She also studied at the University of Paris VII-Jussieu and Paris IV-La Sorbonne, specializing in French 19th Century literature, notably Balzac. She participated in several Italian Lecturer training and language courses, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, Belgium, at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia, at the Scuola Leonardo da Vinci in Rome, as well as at the Istituto Italiano in Florence, Italy. Before joining Northwestern, Veerle taught French and Italian at the University of Ghent Language Center and at the Adult Education Center PCVO Waas & Durme in Lokeren, Belgium. In addition to her teaching career, she is an accomplished musician who has performed as a cellist in orchestras in Belgium and more recently as a jazz singer. v-dierickx@northwestern.edu |
