A native of France, Émilie completed her M.A. in French Literature and Semiotics at the University of Sorbonne-Paris IV. After earning her graduate degree, she worked for the publishing company Magellan & Cie where she handled a French travel literature series. She also edited books about Champlain, Louise Michel, and the artists Ingres, Cézanne and Eugène Carrière. Émilie is currently writing her dissertation on the reconstitution of the other’s speech in contemporary Francophone novels by Assia Djebar, Patrick Chamoiseau and Maryse Condé. She teaches a wide range of courses, including French composition and contemporary French society and culture.
