Caroline Vial received her B.A. from Middlebury College in Philosophy and Italian in 2006, and her M.A. in Comparative Literature from the Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris III in 2007. She has also studied at the Università degli studi in Ferrara, Italy, and the Universidad de la Rioja in Logroño, Spain, in addition to being a participant in the Paris Program in Critical Theory (2006; 2007). Her research interests include the intersections between critical theory, philosophy and 20th century literature and cinema. She is particularly interested in the relation between psychoanalysis, phenomenology, deconstruction and aesthetic representations of the modern and postmodern condition and political identity in the context of French and Italian literature, film noir and the Nouvelle Vague.
